I have been the chef at Derby Street Nursery since April 2012. I have worked for the past 32 years in catering. In 1980 I attended James Watt College in Greenock where I achieved a City & Guilds 706/1 Cookery for the Catering Industry qualification and in 2001 I achieved a Food Hygiene Certificate from Glasgow College of Food & Technology.
In June 2004 I passed my theory test to become a Driving Instructor but found the actual teaching part more difficult than I first thought it would be (I don’t often quit!) After college my first job was with a company located where the transport museum is now. I was there for 18 years; preparing staff and directors’ lunches. I then worked for 5 years in a residential home for the elderly. Following redundancy I went on to work with an agency in Glasgow, which I did for 8 years until Derby Street Nursery offered me a permanent position.
I am a mother of two and have four grandchildren. I attend my local church, garden, swim and sew.
