Miss Maureen

I have worked as Nursery Manager since the opening of Derby Street Nursery in October 2009. I have over 30 years’ experience in childcare from Nursery Nurse, Curriculum Development Officer and Nursery Manager.

I gained an N.N.E.B. (National Nursery Examination Board) at Coatbridge College and returned there some years later to study for an SVQ Level 4 in Early Years Care & Education with Management which I gained in 2005. I recently achieved a BA degree in Childhood Practice from the University of Glasgow in June 2018.

Prior to becoming Manager of Derby Street Nursery I worked as a Manager in a private nursery for over 8 years, where I was involved in developing the nursery from a preschool to a birth to 5 years provision.

Taking up the post of Manager at Derby Street Nursery was a challenging, exciting and rewarding experience. I was able to use my many years’ experience to influence the Nursery we have today.

My leisure activities include travelling around the beautiful Highlands of Scotland, reading crime novels; indulging in my keen interest in forensic anthropology, photography, still life drawing and decoupage; where I have sold some of my pieces of work at art/craft fairs. I am also a passionate animal lover; in particular Samoyed dogs and Persian cats!
